Appraisal Manager

As an Appraisal Manager, one will manage entire appraisal process and provide analytical support of the real estate market in the Bank’s primary markets.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Proficiency in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP)
  • A clear understanding of FIRREA regulation as it applies to Commercial Real Estate
  • An understanding of Environmental Assessment and Risk Management Standards (ASTM)
  • Identifying the scope, bidding the Appraisal request, and engaging the Appraiser
  • Identifying the scope and engaging the Environmental Engineer
  • Managing the Appraisal and the Environmental request through the engagement
  • Sending Appraisals to a third party reviewers and managing the process through completion of the review
  • Reviewing Residential and Commercial appraisals internally.
  • Reviewing Environmental reports and making recommendations on the next course of action
  • Reviewing Evaluations (prepared externally or an In-house non-appraiser prepared Evaluation)
  • Managing the Appraisal and Environmental data base
  • Annual Evaluation of Appraisers
  • Vetting Appraisers and Environmental Engineers and making recommendations to the board.
  • Maintaining Appraisal and Environmental policy and procedures.
  • Preparing periodic status department reports.
  • Departmental management and professional development. (Keeping up to date with USPAP, FIREA, ASTM, and the Real Estate in the Bank’s geographical foot print)
  • Preparing the quarterly Real Estate Report for credit.

To be considered, one must possess:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Admin
  • 4 or more years in credit underwriting environment
  • 5 or more years of experience in a banking environment
  • Knowledge of FIRREA appraisal Requirements
  • Excellent Communication and management skills
  • Formal Appraisal Review training preferred
  • Formal Credit Underwriting training preferred
  • MAI designation preferred
